Frequent flyer miles is a term that many people have gotten to know, understand and use quite a bit. Accruing these infamous miles is possible with the right credit card that offers airline bonuses when purchases are made.

Although you do have to be careful of high interest rates when keeping a card balance, many credit cards supply users with an abundance of flying perks. 3. Southwest Airline Rapid Rewards Card: based on what type of Southwest flight you use, you can earn from 6 to 12 points with each purchase. You can earn two points per hotel or rental car purchase and one point on all other purchases. When you renew the card, you get 3,000 points. The annual fee of $69.00 can be waived in the first year.

4. Chase United MileagePlus Explorer Card: you get an automatic 25,000 points when signing up for the card. Perks with this card can include priority boarding, free checked bag and a pass to use the airport lounge. Beginning in the second year, however, you will have to pay an annual fee of $95.00.

5. Citi Platinum Select American Airlines AAdvantage Card: for every American Airlines purchase, you redeem two points and one point for every other purchase. You and up to four other passengers get a free checked bag as well. If you spend a $1,000 within the first three months, you get 30,000 points. The annual fee of $95.00 can be waived in the first year.
